This morning (Wednesday 27th January 2016), we discovered a nasty bug which is affecting all Mac and iOS (iPad / iPhone) devices.

When using Safari, we experienced unexplained crashes, slow down and odd behaviour in general. From our own research, it seems that Apple is having a problem with their “Safari Suggestion” service.

For the moment, we have found that if you disable this option, the problems go away. Below are pictures showing this on Mac and iOS.

We expect that this issue will be fixed by Apple soon, but in the mean time, this workaround should help for the moment.

Mac

Load up Safari, then click on the “Safari” top menu option and select “Preferences”. Click on Search and then change your settings as shown below. You will need to quit and reload Safari for these changes to take effect:

Click on “Settings” then “Safari” then make the changes shown below:
